Children's performance Kühn Children's Choir

2. 2. 2025, 11 am | Central Library Prague, Mariánské nám. 98/1, Prague 1

Stage adaptation of Carnation Bugs with music by Václav Trojan performed by children from the Kühn Children's Choir.

The Kühn Children's Choir was founded in 1932 by Jan Kühn, a prominent singer, director and choirmaster. He created it originally for the needs of Czechoslovak Radio in Prague. Due to its exceptional qualities, the choir was then incorporated into the Czech Philharmonic in 1952, of which it was a part for forty years. Today, the choir is one of the most important Czech artistic collectives, known not only in Europe but on all five continents. During its existence it has educated thousands of talented children and taught them a love of music and art. Its most gifted members have grown into important artists - conductors, directors, composers, singers and instrumentalists. Its tradition and the breadth of its artistic scope make it a unique artistic institution of its kind not only in the Czech Republic but also in Europe.

Its extraordinary artistic reputation is evidenced by the numerous awards and official honours the ensemble has received, including the European Grand Prix in 1998, an absolute victory at the highly prestigious choral competition in Tolosa, Spain. The choir is regularly invited to major music festivals and concert tours. In addition to individual concerts, it collaborates systematically with leading orchestras and opera houses. Cooperation with the National Theatre in Prague, where children have been playing roles in operas, has been going on since 1936.

Designed for preschoolers and 1st grade of primary school.
