Songs by Terezín composers and their contemporaries
Viktor Ullmann: Liederbuch des Hafis Op. 30 (1940; text by Hafiz of Shiraz in German translation by Hans Bethga, dedicated to Marion Podolier)
George Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue (abridged version for solo piano)
Josef Bohuslav Foerster: Pohádka o dlouhé touze (Fairy Tale of Longing) Op. 101, cycle of 15 songs for male voice and piano to texts by Josef Merhaut (1910)
Pavel Haas: Seven Songs in Folk Style, Op. 18, to texts by František Ladislav Čelakovský
Jaroslav Ježek: Bugatti Step
Jaroslav Ježek: Selection of Songs
A special recital will also be prepared by baritone Petr Matuszek, who will bring the works of Jaroslav Ježek, Pavel Haas, and Viktor Ullmann to life with his voice in the beautiful surroundings of Libeňský zámek. Pavel Haas and Viktor Ullmann belong to the so-called "Terezín composers," i.e., composers whose works were created mainly during their imprisonment in concentration camps, where they also lost their lives. Jaroslav Ježek, together with Voskovec and Werich, managed to flee to the US after the Munich Agreement, but died there shortly afterwards.
