Renowned pianist Gottlieb Wallisch will present an exceptionally rare work by Jaromír Weinberger, who is best known as the composer of the opera Švanda the Bagpiper.
The second evening will feature music by Pavel Haas, the “Terezín composer.” Pavel Haas wrote most of his compositions during his imprisonment in Terezín.
A special recital will also be prepared by baritone Petr Matuszek, who will bring the works of Jaroslav Ježek, Pavel Haas, and Viktor Ullmann to life with his voice in the beautiful surroundings of Libeňský zámek.
The conclusion of the spring part of the festival will belong to the Pavel Bořkovec Quartet, which will perform in the industrial setting of the Coal Mill in Libčice nad Vltavou.
The work reflects the encounter between Jewish musical tradition, klezmer interpretation, and European modernism from both the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and the 1930s and 1940s, presenting timeless themes of identity, memory, uprooting, and acceptance.
